Right To Read is a 501(c)(3)non-profit organization providing no-cost reading support to students in kindergarten through third grade in under-resourced communities.

FACTS AND FIGURES

Only 37% of 4th-grade students nationwide are proficient in reading, making them more lilely to experience poverty, school drop out, and academic failure.

Illiteracy has a direct correlation with the American prison population as 3 out of 5 prison inmates can't read.

Children who are not reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade have a 1 in 8 chance of catching up and are 4x more likely to drop out of school.

88% of struggling readers in third grade did not graduate from high school. Third-grade reading proficiency is a key predictor of high school graduation.

One out of five students has a language-based learning disability. Dyslexia is the most common learning-based disability not diagnosed in the public school system.

How we help

Assessment

Our assessments are used to identify students who would benefit the most from targeted support in reading, and to provide an individualized reading plan to support student reading success.

Intervention

Reading support is provided at no cost to at-risk students in kindergarten through third grade who qualify. This targeted support is individualized to meet student needs.

Community

Building community partnerships and providing parent education supports our programming and allows us to continue serving students in promoting their reading achievement.
