Right To Read is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to providing equitable access to quality reading resources, personalized support, and community-based programs to empower students in achieving literacy and lifelong success.

FACTS AND FIGURES

Only 37% of 4th-grade students nationwide are proficient in reading, making them more lilely to experience poverty, school drop out, and academic failure.

Illiteracy has a direct correlation with the American prison population as 3 out of 5 prison inmates can't read.

Children who are not reading on grade level by the end of 3rd grade have a 1 in 8 chance of catching up and are 4x more likely to drop out of school.

88% of struggling readers in third grade did not graduate from high school. Third-grade reading proficiency is a key predictor of high school graduation.  

One out of five students has a language-based learning disability. Dyslexia is the most common learning-based disability not diagnosed in the public school system.

How we help

community

Right To Read works with community organizations in under-resourced communities to provide parent education and targeted reading intervention at no family cost to qualifying students in kindergarten through middle school.

Families

Right To LEAP (Literacy Enrichment and Advocacy Program) is our innovative resource that empowers families and students through research-based reading interventions, comprehensive support, and advocacy for literacy excellence.

Educators

Right to Teach is an investment opportunity that offers a hands-on approach to professional development, research-based literacy resources, and 1:1 mentorship for educators who teach reading to support their literacy instruction and student success.
